When I first heard these words, I really didn’t understand it. But I started to experience it in the classroom during my first year teaching & working with youth with PEP. I miss this. I miss teaching curriculum based on a social justice framework. I miss being able to have conversations with my peers & my students about topics that speak to mine & their experiences.
I like my job, it is challenging—there are good and bad days. But in the end I am growing as an educator. It is definitely giving me another perspective on education & teaching + giving me skills.
Food for thought: Do work that is important to you and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. Being uncomfortable leads to growth and in the end it may help you realize what you really want and who you want to be.
